Tax Lists

It's been said (yes, only hearsay) that the mysterious John Klugh had a brother, Frederick and that they lived in Gilpin Township, PA. With that in mind, I present here a number of tax lists from the 1860s mentioning both John and Frederick in the same chart. The listings appear to be from Franklin Township near Harrisburg. There's another Franklin Town in western PA near Sugar Creek, and another for Samuel Klugh in Oil City.
Just click on the thumbnail images. They will all open as a PDF. You can adjust the size if you want. Each Klugh entry is indicated by a red mark.
In the first entry for George Klugh, the enumerator began to write a "C" for Chester County, then changed it to a "Y" for York County.
